Algunos vuelos tienen menos de 100 millas y son la columna vertebral del sistema aéreo de EE. UU., uniendo pueblos pequeños y grandes ciudades. Pero las rutas cortas estaban en declive incluso antes de que se dispararan los costos del combustible para aviones.

Some flights are less than 100 miles, and they're the backbone of the U.S. air system, linking small towns and big cities. But short routes were in decline even before jet fuel costs spiked.
