Ross Whyte's rink marked their debut with a bronze medal
Scotland won bronze at the World Men's Curling Championship thanks to an 11-6 victory over hosts the United States in Utah.
Ross Whyte's rink, making their debut in the competition, bounced back from their semi-final defeat by Canada to claim a medal.
In a back-and-forth contest, Scotland edged 7-5 ahead after the seventh end having not scored in the previous three.
USA immediately halved the deficit, but a decisive four-point score in the ninth end secured victory for the Scots.
Whyte's rink had reeled off 10 successive wins to finish the round-robin stage in second place before losing a tense semi-final to Canada.
"The other three set me up at pretty much every end and I had a couple that didn't quite go my way and didn't play as well as I was hoping I would, but the boys kept doing their thing and left me enough chances to get over the line, so, it feels great to have won that bronze medal," said Whyte.
"It shows we are a strong unit and ready to give it our all at any point and it was nice to get our first chance at this as the playing team.
"That experience is going to be huge going forward and hopefully that carries on and allows us to get more opportunities to go out there and be Team Scotland and do the nation proud."
Whyte, along with Robin Brydone, Euan Kyle, Craig Waddell and alternate Duncan McFadzean, had been aiming to retain the title for Scotland after last year's win by Bruce Mouat's world number one-ranked rink.
Mouat's men elected not to compete following their silver medal at the Olympics in Cortina.
