Pakistan has said it carried out airstrikes and ground operations in eastern Afghanistan, killing 25 militants, in response to recent deadly attacks, including the killing of paramilitary troops in Karachi. Islamabad says the strikes targeted militant groups linked to cross-border violence, while Kabul has accused Pakistan of causing civilian casualties.
Pakistan carried out airstrikes overnight in eastern Afghanistan, Islamabad said on Monday, adding its operations had targeted militants as the Afghan government reported dozens of civilian casualties.
The strikes come a day after an attack in the southern city of Karachi killed three paramilitary troops. Afghanistan's ruling Taliban condemned the strikes, calling them a "cowardly act of aggression."
