The UN General Assembly just passed a resolution declaring the transatlantic slave trade the gravest crime against humanity. While the resolution is not legally binding, its symbolic force reverberates deeply, especially in a country like Brazil, which received nearly half of enslaved Africans and was the last nation to abolish slavery.
