Hellyer, senior fellow in geopolitics at the Royal United Services Institute, was France 24’s guest and analysed the renewed tensions between the United States and Iran in the Strait of Hormuz as a strategy of mutual pressure amid ongoing negotiations. While talks are set to continue in Islamabad, both sides are using leverage, particularly the US blockade of Iranian port, to strengthen their positions, making any quick breakthrough unlikely.
