A case of Ebola has been confirmed in Democratic Republic of Congo's South Kivu province - hundreds ​of kilometres ‌from the outbreak's epicentre - according to the rebel alliance that controls the ⁠area. It marks an expansion of an outbreak of a rare strain that was detected last week and raises further concerns about difficulties in accessing the areas hit by the epidemic, with widespread armed violence in the country's east.
